The Panthers open city competition this Friday against Central as the
oldest rivalry in Evansville is renewed once more.
Reitz (3-0 overall, 1-0 SIAC, 0-0 city) will travel to Central Stadium to battle the Bears (3-0, 1-0, 1-0).
The Panthers lead Central in the all-time series, 69 games to 30, with four ties. The series famously began in 1921, with future Reitz Hall of Fame coach, Herman Byers, leading the Bears to a 104-0 win.
Central is coached by Andy Owen, who is 56-36 in his ninth year with the north side school but 2-10 against the Panthers. Hape holds a 2-0 edge over the Bears and is 22-6 in his third year with Reitz.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Central Stadium.
