The Reitz Nation lost a Panther great last Saturday, May 7, as John Siscel Jr. passed away at the age of 93.

As a member of Herman Byers’ first Reitz Football team in 1942, Siscel’s speed and prowess earned him the nickname “Whirlaway” where he became the city’s second-leading scorer for the conference championship Panthers.

Funeral services were held this past Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, and Siscel was laid to rest at Saint Joseph Cemetery.

We here at ReitzFootball.com would like to send our condolences to Siscel’s family and friends.
