Jim Byers

Jim Byers is a member of the Reitz Football Hall of Fame Class of 2008 and was an All-American and all-state player for Reitz in 1953. He also played for the University of Michigan.

He coached at Princeton High School from 1959 to 1962 and Boonville High School from 1962 to 1965, compiling a 34-25-1 record. He then went on to the University of Evansville where he became head coach, compiling a 51-50-3 record from 1966 to 1977.

He was inducted into the University of Evansville Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 2001. He was posthumously inducted into the Greater Evansville Football Hall of Fame Class of 2018.

His father, Herman Byers, is also a member of the Reitz Football Hall of Fame.

Jim passed away on Aug. 3, 2016 at the age of 79.
