Watch the 1956 Reitz vs. Central game! #TraditionTuesday
While there are several Reitz games from the last seven years now online in the PantherPlus membership area, we’re excited to announce this classic game against Central from 60 years ago.
Watch the battle at the Bowl in front of 7,000 fans as the Panthers avenged their only loss from the prior year and shut out the Bears, 46-0.
Jerry Wilson had the performance of the night as he had 16 carries for 227 yards, an amazing 14.2 yards per carry, plus four touchdowns.
1956 was an incredible year for the Panthers, one that would see the school’s fifth state championship.

Dan Engler's love for Reitz Football goes back a long time. Engler played for the Panthers all four years of high school and graduated in 1996.
That summer, as the popularity of the Internet began to explode, Engler's search for Reitz Football information came up empty, so his father suggested he create a website. Engler taught himself HTML and launched the Unofficial Reitz High School Football Home Page that August.
Since then, Engler, through ReitzFootball.com, has spent the past 25 years chronicling the rich history and tradition of Reitz High School Football.
Engler and his wife, Melissa, have two sons, Logan and Micah, and a daughter, Juliette. Engler has traveled all over the world but is proud to call Evansville his home.
