Old rival joins Panthers in new sectional alignment
The Indiana High School Athletic Association recently released the sectional football alignments for the next two years, and Reitz will once again compete in Class 4A Sectional 24.
Gone are Bosse (moved down to Class 3A Sectional 32) and Owen Valley (switched to Class 3A Sectional 30). Sectional 24 goes from an 8- to a 7-team grouping and includes the Panthers’ old rival, Memorial.
This will be the first time the two schools, both named for Francis Joseph Reitz, will be in the same sectional together. The Tigers were bumped up due to the Tournament Success Factor, following a state title run in 2017 and a state final appearance in 2018.
Here is Class 4A Sectional 24 for 2019 & 2020:
- Boonville
- Central
- Harrison
- Jasper
- Memorial
- Northview
- Reitz

Dan Engler's love for Reitz Football goes back a long time. Engler played for the Panthers all four years of high school and graduated in 1996.
That summer, as the popularity of the Internet began to explode, Engler's search for Reitz Football information came up empty, so his father suggested he create a website. Engler taught himself HTML and launched the Unofficial Reitz High School Football Home Page that August.
Since then, Engler, through ReitzFootball.com, has spent the past 25 years chronicling the rich history and tradition of Reitz High School Football.
Engler and his wife, Melissa, have two sons, Logan and Micah, and a daughter, Juliette. Engler has traveled all over the world but is proud to call Evansville his home.
