Top 25 Biggest Wins in Reitz Bowl History – #23: Reitz 6, Bosse 0 (Nov. 26, 1931)
On Thanksgiving afternoon, 12,000 fans, which would be the biggest crowd yet in Evansville football history, saw the Panthers upset previously unbeaten Bosse, 6-0.
The only score came in the first quarter when, on 3rd-and-8, Charles Brunson (Cory’s grandfather) tossed a lateral to Walter LeMon, the right end, who reversed field and ran 15 yards for a touchdown.
While the win gave the Panthers a share of the city title with the Bulldogs (both were 2-1 in city competition), that didn’t stick. With the Great Depression in full swing, the IHSAA had approved special postseason games to raise money for charity, and a playoff was scheduled to determine the city championship. Bosse would win that one, 13-0, on Dec. 5 at Bosse Field, to claim the title.

Dan Engler's love for Reitz Football goes back a long time. Engler played for the Panthers all four years of high school and graduated in 1996.
That summer, as the popularity of the Internet began to explode, Engler's search for Reitz Football information came up empty, so his father suggested he create a website. Engler taught himself HTML and launched the Unofficial Reitz High School Football Home Page that August.
Since then, Engler, through ReitzFootball.com, has spent the past 25 years chronicling the rich history and tradition of Reitz High School Football.
Engler and his wife, Melissa, have two sons, Logan and Micah, and a daughter, Juliette. Engler has traveled all over the world but is proud to call Evansville his home.
