Top 25 Biggest Wins in Reitz Bowl History – #22: Reitz 34, North 0 (Oct. 27, 1960)
As documented in “The Game“, part of Mike Whicker’s Legendary Game Series, this highly anticipated game between No. 1 Reitz and No. 3 North showed just how dominant the Panthers of that era were.
As Whicker pointed out, “The valiant North squad had heart, but not enough muscle to match up to the powerful Westsiders, and finally wilted under the Reitz onslaught. The scoreboard read 34-0 at the end of THE GAME.”
14,000 fans would watch this classic as Royce Neisz led the Panthers with two touchdowns (an 18-yard interception return and a 35-yard pass from Gary Effinger).
This would prove to be the only setback for the Huskies, as they would go on to finish 9-1, while the Panthers finished 9-0 and won the state crown.

Dan Engler's love for Reitz Football goes back a long time. Engler played for the Panthers all four years of high school and graduated in 1996.
That summer, as the popularity of the Internet began to explode, Engler's search for Reitz Football information came up empty, so his father suggested he create a website. Engler taught himself HTML and launched the Unofficial Reitz High School Football Home Page that August.
Since then, Engler, through ReitzFootball.com, has spent the past 25 years chronicling the rich history and tradition of Reitz High School Football.
Engler and his wife, Melissa, have two sons, Logan and Micah, and a daughter, Juliette. Engler has traveled all over the world but is proud to call Evansville his home.
