Jasper strengthened their hold on first place, beating Castle 30-12. The Wildcats (7-0) can now clinch a share of their first SIAC title since 1979 with a win over North this Friday or a Memorial loss to Vincennes.
Still alive are the Tigers (6-1), Castle (5-2) and Mater Dei (5-2), although they all need help as Jasper controls their own destiny.
In the city race, Memorial won their fourth title in the last five years and 27th overall with a 49-10 win over Reitz. It was the 100-year anniversary of the city championship series, which Central won in 1921.
