Reitz and Jeffersonville will butt heads once more this Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
Jeffersonville’ head coach, Steve Cooley, is 84-63 overall and 32-39 in his eighth year with the Red Devils.
Jeffersonville is coming off a 6-5 season last year. Their first and last defeats of the 2006 came from Reitz, a 20-13 decision on Aug. 18 and a 30-0 shutout on Oct. 27 in the playoffs.
The Panthers lead the series 15 games to one. This will be the first time since 1992 that the two schools won’t be sectional rivals. Jeffersonville stayed in Class 5A Sectional 8 while the Panthers moved down to Class 4A Sectional 16.
Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m. at Reitz Bowl.
