Charlie Fisher was a two-time all-state player for Reitz in 1946 and 1947 and inducted posthumously into the Reitz Football Hall of Fame Class of 2020.
Fisher played for Evansville College, and, after graduation, became Mississinewa High School’s head coach. He lead the Indians for 36 years, from 1954 to 1976 and again from 1981 to 1994, where he compiled a 211-124-6 record. Mississinewa’s field in named Fisher Field in his honor.
He was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and was also a member of the Grant County Sports Hall of Fame and the University of Evansville Athletic Hall of Fame.
His brother, Pete, is also a member of the Indiana Football and Reitz Football Halls of Fame.
Fisher passed away on Jan. 9, 2020 at the age of 90.
