Reitz holds off Central in overtime, 43-42
Reitz edged by Central in overtime Friday night, 43-42, by the skin of their teeth, going for and scoring a two-point conversion that gave them the one-point victory.
The win avenged the Panthers’ Sept. 8 loss to the Bears, a 36-31 setback. The Panthers are on a seven-game win streak since that night.
Just like last year, Reitz and Central split their two meetings. The Panthers also won in overtime last year.
The Bears, who were the defending sectional champions, finished their season 6-4.
Reitz (8-3) will now travel to Jasper (11-0) next Friday night to fight for the Class 4A Sectional Championship.

Dan Engler's love for Reitz Football goes back a long time. Engler played for the Panthers all four years of high school and graduated in 1996.
That summer, as the popularity of the Internet began to explode, Engler's search for Reitz Football information came up empty, so his father suggested he create a website. Engler taught himself HTML and launched the Unofficial Reitz High School Football Home Page that August.
Since then, Engler, through ReitzFootball.com, has spent the past 25 years chronicling the rich history and tradition of Reitz High School Football.
Engler and his wife, Melissa, have two sons, Logan and Micah, and a daughter, Juliette. Engler has traveled all over the world but is proud to call Evansville his home.
